This is a late 19th-century Victorian mantel (parlor) clock made by the W. L. Gilbert Clock Company—but it’s actually not the typical “gingerbread” style.
What you have is a more decorative “column & black mantel” / Eastlake-style clock, which is a step up visually from standard kitchen gingerbread clocks.
H10 X L16
Circa: ~1880s–1890s
Style: Victorian / Eastlake mantel clock
Case: Walnut or stained wood with incised line carvings
Columns: Faux marble (painted wood or paper wrap) with decorative gilt capitals
Dial: Ornate brass bezel with paper dial and open filigree center
Movement: Likely an 8-day time & strike (winds with a key, chimes on the hour)
These were designed to sit on a parlor shelf or mantel and show off a bit more than plain kitchen clocks.
